In Caledon This Weekend: September 27-28 2014

There are so many amazing things happening right here in Caledon this weekend – which arguably might be the best weekend weather wise after our mediocre summer weather. If you are around this weekend here are some great things happening across Caledon – right in your backyard!

September 17, 2014 – They’re small, slimy and slithering and they’re coming to a town near you. The Hamlet of Belfountain hosts its 18th Annual Salamander Festival on Saturday, September 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in partnership with Credit Valley Conservation (CVC), the Belfountain Community Organization and community partners.

The Jefferson Salamander is native to Ontario and found primarily in Belfountain. CVC is committed to educating local residents about their roles caring for environments that are home to endangered species. Each year people come to visit unique vendors and learn about CVC’s efforts protecting Belfountain’s green spaces.

“It’s a great day for supporting local talents, crafts and exploring this beautiful community,” says Deborah Martin-Downs, Chief Administrative Officer for CVC. “Each year we come out to Belfountain to celebrate salamanders as a symbol of a healthy environment and local commitments to helping CVC conserve green spaces.”

Activities take place in the Hamlet and Belfountain Conservation Area. Visitors of all ages will discover exciting activities, including:
