Here’a a list of some great things happening in Caledon for March Break 2015:
It’s that time of year when CVC Credit Valley Conservation is gearing up for our Maple Syrup Festival happening throughout the month of March at Terra Cotta CA.
New this year:
The 2015 Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival
– Happening March 7/8, 14/15, 16 – 20, 21/22, 28/29 and April 3/4/5 (not including Easter Monday)
– 10:00am – 4:00pm each day
– Activities include: wagon rides, pancake breakfast, taffy station, maple syrup demos in the sugar shack, outdoor education pioneer displays, possible vendors, indoor children’s educational activities in the learning centre, entertainment at the amphitheatre and retail sales at the Visitors welcome centre.
– regular admission prices during festival times will increase to: $7.00 per adult, $4.00 per child (6 – 14yrs), seniors (60+) get 20% discount on adult admission and the maximum vehicle price of 6 ppl per car will remain at $25.00. These prices are all subject to HST
– pancake breakfast prices will be: $8.00 for a large, $4.00 for a small (which is quite low compared to what other Maple Syrup festivals charge)

Volunteers Needed: Volunteers would be needed in areas of: parking, pancake breakfast, sugar shack, taffy station, outdoor education stations and indoor education stations.

Jack Smythe Field Centre: March 18-21: March Break Maple Syrup Days at the Jack Smythe Field Centre. Open 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Enjoy the beauty and wonder of nature as Spring blossoms. Jack Smythe Field Centre offers an exceptional family experience with a visit to its Maple Syrup Bush. Join in on an authentic Canadian tradition. For a number of years the Peel Field Centres have invited the public for an awe-inspiring visit to their outstanding Maple Sugar Bush during the March Break. Individuals and families are invited to get involved as Spring comes to life. Help empty sap buckets, tap trees or sample some freshly made maple syrup as we celebrate the new syrup season. Take a hike along our tranquil trails and feed the friendly chickadees by hand. A teepee and early settler site will also be set up to show how syrup was collected and produced in centuries past. Use pioneer tools or listen to an Aboriginal tale around the campfires. No visit would be complete without a trip to the sugar shack where the sap is boiling and clouds of sweet smelling steam billow out of the chimney. Learn how modern day syrup operations are conducted with an industrial evaporator and tap line system. Have a taste of the freshly made syrup. The cost is $5.00/adult and $4.00/child 12 and under. Lunch will be available for purchase. It will include: hot chocolate, cookies and hotdogs for you to roast over an open fire. Please note that all payments are “cash” only. Taste of Maple: ‘Tis the season to celebrate all things maple. Join us for A Taste of Maple taking place from Friday, March 13 – Sunday, April 12, 2015 at locations across the Headwaters region, including many in Caledon. Take part in a Maple Syrup Festival, enjoy delicious maple delights, enroll in maple cooking classes, be inspired by maple themed art or even create your own at a painting class! All this plus the delicious Tastes of Maple on offer via special desserts, savouries, prix fixe meals and more to tempt your taste buds.
