On Oct. 20, 2015, Caledon Council directed that a Visioning Exercise for the Whitebelt be undertaken. The Whitebelt is the area outside the Greenbelt and existing settlement areas in south Caledon. The Whitebelt makes up about 20% of Caledon. The province is planning a 400-series highway to go across the Whitebelt, which is known as the GTA West Transportation Corridor. Previously, the Town initiated the GTA West Land Use Study to look at future strategic employment lands in the vicinity of the GTA West Transportation Corridor. A Public Open House was held on June 29, 2015.
The GTA West Land Use Study is being expanded to include visioning for the entire Whitebelt and will look at all land uses including residential, commercial, institutional, employment lands, agricultural and environmental protection. There will be no time-frame specified for the Whitebelt Vision.
A Public Open House is being held for the Whitebelt Visioning Exercise.
