Credit Valley Conservation has completed their new terrace after receiving approval from its Board of Directors on June 12. CVC regularly monitors the structural integrity of the terrace and other park infrastructure. Deteriorating conditions led to its closure in 2014 for health and safety reasons.
The construction contract was awarded to Sunshine Design and Construction, after CVC received a number of competitive bids.
The terrace and other features at the conservation area are known for their historical significance and cultural heritage value. CVC has been working with heritage architecture firm, George Robb Architect, to develop a plan to reconstruct the terrace’s 100-year-old retaining walls, restore public access and add new accessibility enhancements.
Thank you to Spirit Tree Estate Cidery for refreshments!
The Town is currently in the planning phase of building a new multi-use community centre in Southfields on an 8-acre parcel of land located at the southeast corner of Kennedy Road and Dougall Avenue. As part of the Town’s 2015 Parks and Recreation Visioning Plan, staff is proposing a Community Hub model that provides a co-operative system for delivering a diverse range of recreation and community based services to the rapidly expanding westside of Caledon.
The consultants report prepared by Montieth Brown and the supporting staff report are available on-line, I would encourage you to review and share your thoughts with me via email. We need to get this right, a balanced facility that meets the needs of our community will create an anchor in the village core that supports residents and business’ alike.
